Requirements to visit Mexico

Valid passport with at least 6 months of validity remaining from the date of your visit.
Citizens of most countries in the region do not require a visa to visit Mexico as tourists for stays of up to 90 days.

The cheapest way to get to Guanajuato from Mexico City is to take a bus from the ETN company, one of the safest in the country, at the Central North Bus Terminal (Terminal Central de Autobuses del Norte). To get to this station, you can take an Uber, a taxi, or the metro. There are several departures daily, and they have comfortable seats. They will drop you off in Guanajuato in about 5 hours and 20 minutes

Guanajuato is a beautiful colonial. The IMBAES will be held in the historic center, in the “Edificio Cental de la UG”. Planning your trip in advance will allow you to find excellent hotels or Airbnbs. Important note: Guanajuato is a walkable city, and move to the outskirts, such as Santa Fe (located at the city entrance) or San Javier and Valenciana (also on the outskirts), you will need to take a taxi, which is not expensive, but it's important to consider this when choosing your accommodation. The Dos Ríos area also requires a taxi. I suggest that, when selecting your accommodation, you prioritize the downtown area or the La Presa area, which is also very central and walkable. There are some hotels located in the hills of Guanajuato city; Guanajuato's “callejones” are very safe, but they are quite steep and tiring, especially after a few drinks. If you plan to stay in hostels or Airbnbs, keep in mind that Guanajuato has many hills and alleyways. In the center, especially on Thursdays, there is a lot of nightlife in Guanajuato's bars. Remember that Guanajuato is a student city, and the noise at night can be a bit bothersome. Also, remember that the event will take place right after the Day of the Dead commemoration, so the weekend before our event, Guanajuato will be very crowded, with "Día dos Muertos" offerings and festivities in the streets. If you can, try to enjoy this beautiful Mexican celebration.

Below, I've listed some accommodations in the downtown area, but I haven't stayed in any of them myself. This is just to help those who are not familiar with Guanajuato. And there are more others located near these.

Guanajuato es una linda ciudad colonial e estudiantil. La sede del evento será en el centro histórico, en el bellísimo Edificio Central de la UG. Planeando tu viaje con anticipación, podrás encontrar óptimos hoteles, posadas y Airbnb para todos los gustos y precios. Ojo: Guanajuato se camina a pie, y para desplazarse a las afueras, como Santa Fe (que está en la entrada de la ciudad) o San Javier y Valenciana (también en las afueras), tendrás que tomar taxi, que no es caro, pero es importante considerar esto al seleccionar el hospedaje. La zona de Dos Ríos también se requiere taxi. Sugiero que, al seleccionar el hospedaje, prefieras la zona centro o la zona de La Presa, que también es muy céntrica y se puede ir caminando. Hay algunos hoteles que están en los cerros; los callejones de Guanajuato son muy seguros, pero son bastante inclinados y pesados, sobre todo después de unas copas. Si vas a hospedarte en hostales o Airbnb, considera que en Guanajuato hay muchos cerros y callejones. En el centro, sobre todo los jueves, hay mucha fiesta en los bares de Guanajuato. Recuerda que Guanajuato es una ciudad estudiantil y el ruido por la noche puede ser un poco incómodo. También recuerda que el evento será justo después de la conmemoración del Día de los Muertos, por lo que el fin de semana anterior a nuestro evento, Guanajuato estará llenísimo, con tapetes de los muertos y fiesta en las calles. Si puedes, intenta aprovechar esta linda fiesta mexicana.
